I know anxiety, depression, and ADHD inside and out because my own well-being depended on the development of expertise in these areas. I have experienced them all and I no longer suffer. I was already a counsellor when I had my tussle with these painful life-intrusions, but no amount of experience helping others and no amount of book-learning or schooling could prepare me for what it really feels like to be on the inside of these things.
I often think that experiences like panic attacks defy description. It's like trying to explain a nightmare where you're being chased by a giant banana and, while you were dreaming, you felt absolute terror, but as you try to explain it to another person in the light of day, it's difficult to make them understand just how horrific the dream felt.
I listen with profound compassion, I strive to understand your own unique experiences, and then I provide feedback to you as a genuinely caring human being who is your ally. Clients say I'm very good at what I do, and they feel how I truly care. I know anxiety, depression, trauma and ADHD do not have to control your life. I know that you can feel better than you do right now. And I also know that this stuff is hard and there are circumstances at work that impact your ability to cope.
Clients tell me I have on-target things to say, I engage, offer valuable insights, and ask them questions that strike at the heart of the matter. They say I'm funny, down-to-earth, knowledgeable, and skillful in a way that makes them feel better when we meet. In fact, a lot of them tell me they always leave our sessions feeling better and the improved feelings last for at least a few days after as they progress toward overall well-being.
